President Dalia Grybauskaitė together a group of children from care homes visited Santa Claus in Finland and gave him a package of letters and Christmas drawings. They told him of their biggest wish – to grow up in loving families. The President also gave Santa a special gift – a glass jar of honey from her bee hives.
On 1st September, Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania to the Republic of Finland warmly welcomed a philosophy doctor, writer and translator Kristupas Sabolius who was invited to participate in a famous philosophy festival A Night of Philosophy that took place in Helsinki contemporary art museum Kiasma.
The XV World Lithuanian Youth Congress (WLYC) took place in Helsinki on 6-7th of July. Lithuanians in Helsinki joined the annual The Path of Life and Death run to commemorate those who died in Lithuania during the events of 13 January, 1991. The run is a tradition among Lithuanian diaspora around the world.
Following the annual tradition, on December 10, 2016 in the Embassy of Lithuania in Helsinki was held a Christmas celebration for Lithuanian community children and their parents.
