Consular functions available in the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania in Finland

There are no visa authorities of the Republic of Lithuania in the European Union. For the list of diplomatic missions or consular posts of the Republic of Lithuania that perform consular functions related to the issuance of visas, please refer to this link.

 

Consular officer can:

  • Issue repatriation certificates;
  • Issue consular certificates for the citizens of the Republic of Lithuania who lost their driving license abroad or vehicles register certificates for the purpose of returning to Lithuania;
  • Process applications for the issuance/replacement of passports and ID cards of the Republic of Lithuania;
  • Process declarations of the place of residence from the citizens of the Republic of Lithuania who are living abroad for more than 6 months;
  • Accept requests to register, change etc. acts of civil status such as marriage, birth, divorce etc. of citizens of the Republic of Lithuania;
  • Accept requests to receive certain documents from the institutions of the Republic of Lithuania
  • Issue consular certificates;
  • Perform notarial acts;
  • Provide information about procedures how relatives in Lithuania can transfer money to the individual residing abroad;
  • If necessary, visit citizens of the Republic of Lithuania in prisons;
  • Request that the citizens of the Republic of Lithuania who are arrested or convicted abroad are treated according to local and international law and have the same treatment as local citizens;
  • Exercise other consular functions that are specified in the Consular Statute of the Republic of Lithuania, the 1963 Vienna Convention on Consular Relations, consular conventions of the Republic of Lithuania and other agreements with the receiving State.

Consular officer cannot:

  • Act as a travel agent or interpreter;
  • Act as a lawyer, investigator or law enforcement officer;
  • Provide services of funeral companies;
  • Provide bank or post office services;
  • Act as intermediary for the issuance of visas, employment or permission to live or work in a foreign country;
  • Provide accommodation or hotel services;
  • Ensure or request improved treatment for the citizens of the Republic of Lithuania who are arrested or convicted abroad;
  • Lend or otherwise give money, hire a lawyer or pay any bills.
