A FINNISH ACTOR AND TRANSLATOR JUSSI LEHTONEN WAS PRESENTED A CULTURAL AWARD BY THE LITHUANIAN EMBASSY IN HELSINKI

On December 2, the Embassy of Lithuania to Finland presented an award to Jussi Lehtonen, an actor of the Finnish National Theater and a translator, for promoting and developing cultural ties between Lithuania and Finland.

 

In 1997, Jussi Lehtonen studied at the Theatre Department of the Lithuanian Academy of Music in Vilnius. He fluently speaks Lithuanian. Jussi Lehtonen has performed numerous translations into Finnish of plays by modern Lithuanian theater directors for performances in various theater festivals in Finland. Also, last year, Jussi Lehtonen translated into Finnish three Lithuanian modern dramas by S.Paruskis, D.Čepauskaitė and M.Ivaškevičius and together with producer Jukka Hytti published them in the book under the title “Three heretics – Lithuanian modern drama”.

 

Award presenting ceremony took place at the Christmas gathering of Lithuanian Friendship Association “Donelaitis” in Villa Kivi, Helsinki.

 

The cultural award of the Embassy of Lithuania to Finland was established and presented for the first time.
