Honorary Consulate of Lithuania opened in Kuopio
On February 4, Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Mantvydas Bekešius and Ambassador of Lithuania to Finland Arūnas Jievaltas officially opened a new Honorary Consulate of Lithuania in the city Kuopio in Eastern Finland. The consulate will be headed by Mr Esa Karvinen, Managing Director of Savo Consortium for Education.
Mr Esa Karvinen has been cooperating actively with Lithuania and Lithuanian people since the beginning of 1990s. He was the chairman of Lithuania‘s friends society of the region of Joensuu, organized cultural events and promoted business and civic activities between Lithuania and Finland.
Vice-Minister M. Bekešius stressed that the new Honorary Consulate will provide more opportunities for cooperation between Lithuania and Finland in the fields of business, education and culture.
The Honorary Consulate is located in the Kuopio Science Park which includes numerous technology and service enterprises, testing and analysis laboratories, various national research centres.
