Lithuania and Finland Strengthen Co-operation in Voluntary Defence

On 22 September 2026, at the Embassy of Lithuania in Helsinki, Colonel Linas Idzelis, Commander of the Lithuanian Riflemen’s Union, and Kari Salminen, President of the Finnish Reservists’ Association (Reserviläisliitto), signed a co-operation agreement.
“This agreement establishes a strong foundation for long-term co-operation and the exchange of expertise,” the leaders of the two organizations noted.
The partnership between the Finnish Reservists’ Association, representing 51,000 members, and the Lithuanian Riflemen’s Union, with 20,000 members, will create new opportunities for joint training, exercises, and expert visits, further enhancing the voluntary defence network across the Baltic Sea region.
