LITHUANIAN NATIONAL WRITING CONTEST

On January 26^th, the third Lithuanian National Writing Contest was arranged worldwide for lovers of the Lithuanian language. The main rule of the contest required all participants to write the same text at the same time. With much interest, the enthusiasts were gathering at the local municipalities and schools in Lithuania as well as the Lithuanian Embassies and Lithuanian Communities abroad. There were nine Lithuanians writing the text at the Lithuanian Embassy in Helsinki. The total number of contestants abroad was 422.

This time, the contestants could also choose the nicest Lithuanian word.

The results and the winners will be announced on February 23^rd after the second stage of the contest in Vilnius.

The organizers are the political weekly “Atgimimas” along with the Lithuanian Radio and Television.
