On July 6th, the Lithuanian national anthem was heard on the Finnish coast in Helsinki

July 6th is Statehood Day in Lithuania, commemorating the coronation of King Mindaugas in 1253. It has also become a tradition for Lithuanians around the world to sing the national anthem together at 9 PM local time — no matter where they are.

So, on the windy and rainy evening of July 6th, members of the Lithuanian community in Finland and representatives from the Lithuanian Embassy in Helsinki gathered at the Kallahdenniemi beach in Helsinki, and—together with Lithuanians around the world—sang the national anthem, Tautiška giesmė!
