The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania announces a photo competition in connection with the upcoming Lithuanian Presidency of the Council of the Baltic Sea States (July 2009-June 2010). We would like to celebrate this event by publishing a calendar for the year 2010, which will be composed of twelve pages illustrated by photos reflecting on life in all the eleven CBSS members – Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Poland, Russia, Sweden (one photo per country), and the capital of the EU – Brussels. We encourage you to submit lively photos that show the architecture and cultural life characteristic of the CBSS countries and  convey the spirit of the seasons of the year. Photos from your archives are welcome.

Participants are invited to submit digital photos at http://foto.delfi.lt. The deadline is 1 June 2009. Each picture should be accompanied by a brief description and the name of the author. By submitting their photos to the competition, the participants authorize the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania to use the photos free of charge in the abovementioned calendar, as well as for any other representative purposes (exhibitions, publications, etc.). The visitors of http://foto.delfi.lt will be able to vote for the pictures they like most. The authors of the best photos will receive awards from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania.
