The Ambassador of Lithuania met the Speaker of the Parliament of Finland

On November 24, the ambassador of Lithuania in Finland Valdemaras Sarapinas had a meeting with the Speaker of the Parliament of Finland (Eduskunta) Maria Lohela, who is considered one of the most promising Finnish politicians.

During the meeting the Speaker of the Parliament of Finland took interest in the composition of the Lithuanian parliament and the Speaker, expressing hope to meet him in the near future. After learning that up to 82 new members have been elected to the Lithuanian Parliament, Maria Lohela offered assistance by conveying the experience of Finnish parliamentary activity and invited the Lithuanian Seimas delegation to visit Eduskunta.

Maria Lohela warmly recalled the meeting with the President of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaitė on October 18, 2016, emphasizing that President’s openness and concreteness made a huge impression both to her and to Finnish parliamentarians, participated in the meeting with her.

The meeting agenda also included a discussion about geopolitical situation in the region, Finnish-Lithuanian bilateral cooperation in investment promotion, energy, transport, tourism and education sectors.

Ambassador Valdemaras Sarapinas expressed a desire for active cooperation with individual committees of the Parliament of Finland.
