The Embassy of Lithuania commemorated January 13 – Stand for Freedom

On January 12, 2017 documentary film by Algis Kuzmickas “Unknown Heroes“, which brought together not only Lithuanian community in Finland, but also Finns, interested in history of Lithuania was presented in the Embassy of Lithuania in Finland.

Ambassador Valdemaras Sarapinas invited guests to wear a symbol of January 13 events – forget-me-not flower, showing honour to those, who stood up for the independence and freedom of Lithuania and, above all, defended the idea of democracy in the world.    

After the screening the participants of January 13 events – the ambassador Valdemaras Sarapinas and a professor of University of Helsinki dr. Laimutė Balodė, who at that time in Riga translated to Latvian Lithuanian television broadcast for Latvian media – shared their memories.

The ambassador warmly thanked Lithuanians living in Finland for shown patriotism in honouring the memory of fighters for Freedom.
